Security & Emergency Preparedness Advisor

We are seeking a skilled Security & Emergency Preparedness Advisor to support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of security, emergency management and business continuity arrangements. The successful candidate will provide expert advice to leaders and teams, helping ensure that people, facilities, information and critical operations are protected against a range of security threats and disruptive events.

Key responsibilities will include undertaking security and operational risk assessments; maintaining emergency response, crisis management and business continuity plans; coordinating preparedness exercises, scenario testing and post-incident reviews; and providing practical recommendations to strengthen organisational resilience. You will monitor relevant threats, trends, legislation and good practice, contributing to security policies, procedures, standards and training. The role will also involve supporting incident response, maintaining effective relationships with emergency services and external partners, and advising on access control, physical security, protective measures, travel risk and emergency communications. You may be required to participate in an out-of-hours emergency response or on-call arrangement.

Applicants should have substantial experience in security, emergency management, resilience, risk management, business continuity or a related discipline, ideally within a complex or highly regulated environment. You will need strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgement under pressure and the ability to translate complex risks into clear, proportionate actions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with experience developing plans, briefings, reports and training materials for varied audiences. Relevant qualifications in security management, emergency management, business continuity, risk or a related field are desirable. The ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and build trusted relationships at all levels is also important.
